Colorful Bath Bombs

Colorful Bath bombs

This is a really fun activity to do with your kids, I let my kids pick the molds and the color of the bombs. They also helped measure ingredients. They picked a heart mold and Easter eggs so we could hide toys in the Easter eggs. WE hide some miniature trains and other little toys. We will definitely be making these again, my daughter has requested more for her birthday!

We started by combining citric acid, baking soda and cornstarch.

Next we added blue food coloring, we tried to mix it with a spoon but that did not work very well so I used my hands and it worked perfect.

Next we filled our molds and Easter eggs. for the molds we just packed as much mixture as we could in each space. For the Easter eggs, we packed some mixture in each half, then we put a toy in one half. We finished packing the mixture into the eggs then we smashed both halves together.

After we let them dry, we took them out of their molds, they came out very easy!

Here is one of them in action. They are fun to watch, they smell wonderful and they are easy to make!

Colorful bath bombs

Ingredients

  • 1 cup citric acid

  • 1 cup baking soda

  • 1/2 cup cornstarch

  • Food coloring

  • 1/2 cup melted coconut oil

  • 10 drops essential oil

  • Molds, Easter eggs

Directions

  1. Mix together citric acid, baking soda and cornstarch.

  2. Add food coloring, add a couple of drops at a time until you get desired color.

  3. In a separate bowl, combine the coconut oil and essential oils. Add small amounts of this bowl to the other bowl and mix.

  4. Keep mixing until mixture is completely combined.

  5. Put mixture in molds and pack tightly, you want it to stick together and not be loose. If you want to hide toys inside molds, pack some mixture in the mold, insert toy then keep packing. For the bath bombs with toys inside I used Easter eggs as molds.

  6. Let them dry for a minimum of 24 hours, but longer is fine also.
