Pokemon Team Knit Hat

With the release of Pokemon Go, I couldn't help but make something! This is the first design so far, so expect more! I already have another chart just waiting to be uploaded, as well as a pattern with a larger sized needle to make it go faster! Keep in mind that this pattern is not to be sold by any persons who are not me. You may sell the product at the cost of materials, but consider charity or gifting instead! We're Team Instinct all the way, what about you!!??

Pokemon Team Beanie

Size 8 (5.0mm) 16” Circular Needles Size 8 (5.0mm) Double Pointed Needles (4 of them is fine) Stitch Marker to Mark Beginning of Round MC- Red Heart Super Saver Black CC- Red Heart Super Saver in Team Color (Yellow for Instinct, Red for Valor, Blue for Mystic) Tapestry Needle for Weaving in Ends Optional: A Row Counter for Chart Rows

Notes: You can place the graph for the pattern anywhere within the bottom body of the hat. Written below is just where I had decided to do so. Choosing to start it anywhere within the second knit row (as long as you have enough room before the end of the row or the at the beginning of the row) is perfectly fine. Also, try to make sure you keep the stitch marker in place throughout the pattern. It will save a lot of time when the decreases begin.

Pattern:

  1. Cast on 90 stitches in MC. Place Marker.

  2. Join in round. Work 1x1 rib stitch (k1, p1)

  3. Continue working rib stitch until your work is 2”, measuring from the bottom of the needles, to the bottom of the work.

  4. Knit 1 round

  5. K30, begin chart. Work the chart right from left, starting at the bottom. You will begin with 4 colored knit stitches. The best way to work this, I’ve found, is to just simply reattach yarn at the longer jogs, it keeps a more even tension, even though it’s more work.

  6. Continue working in this fashion until the chart is complete. Finish off the CC and continue in MC until the piece measures 6”. This length can be adjusted if you would prefer a longer, or a slouchy, beanie.

  7. Begin decreasing rounds. K8, K2tog. Repeat around

  8. Knit around.

  9. K7, K2tog. Repeat around.

  10. Knit around.

  11. K6, K2tog. Repeat around.

  12. Knit around.

  13. K5, K2tog. Repeat around. While working this round, work the new stitches onto your double pointed needles. End each needle with a decreased stitch

  14. Knit around.

  15. K4, K2tog. Repeat around.

  16. Knit around.

  17. K3, K2tog. Repeat around.

  18. Knit around.

  19. K2, K2tog. Repeat around.

  20. K1, K2tog. Repeat around.

  21. K2tog around.

  22. Finish off by weaving the tail through the remaining stitches (as if to purl) and pull tight.

  23. Weave in all the ends and you’re done!
