Easy Beef & Broccoli

Most people have come across some sort of type of food that they’ve been intimidated by. For me, it’s Asian Cuisine. I’m not sure what it is, but I always end up psyching myself out, thinking that it’s going to be so difficult to make. But it’s not. In fact, it’s one of the easiest! I think I proved that with this Beef and Broccoli that I made recently.

I had seen a few recipes for it, each one different. Some of them require a huge list, others a smaller list. I wanted to try to make it as simple as humanly possible, with as much leftovers as possible, and it worked out REALLY well.

Ingredients:

2 14oz Packages of Broccoli Florets 1.5lbs Sirloin Tip Steak Thin 1 Large Onion 1 Small Head of Garlic 2/3 Cup of Water 6 Tablespoons of Soy Sauce (give or take!!!) 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce Salt & Pepper 1 Teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes 2-4 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil Enough Corn Starch to Coat Meat Rice or Chow Mien Noodles to Serve With!

Start off by prepping everything you need. I bought the broccoli florets frozen, so I took those out beforehand to allow them to thaw. We went pretty heavy on the veggie side of it, since it’s better for you anyways. Dice the onion into pretty big chunks, don’t spend too much time on this, the bigger the better. Peel and chop the garlic.

The meat we ended up buying for this turned out to be pretty perfect. I sliced it up into about ½ inch strips and didn’t have to do much else. Trim any excess fat, but try leaving just a little for extra flavor.

In a bowl, season the beef with salt and pepper, and add the red pepper flakes. Then give a good coating of corn starch. Mix everything well, extra corn starch should fall to the bottom of the bowl.

Now, for this step you can use a wok, I don’t have a wok so I used a bigger pan. Heat 2 tbsp of vegetable oil, then gently place the meat in (using tongs if you can). Once the meat is cooked to your liking, take it out and set it aside.

Add more oil into your pan, then the garlic and onion. Cook until the onion is just barely tender, maybe a little bit crunchy still, then throw in the broccoli. Once the broccoli is warmed, add the meat back in. Slowly pour in the water, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce, I had this all in the same measuring cup to make things easier. Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 5 minutes. The corn starch on the beef will help thicken the sauce!

Serve over warm rice or chow mien noodles!

You can adjust the sauce to make thicker or thinner, and this really made quite a bit! But it was really great to have all of those leftovers!! Make this and tell us what you think!!
